So I’ve started playing WoW again. But this is about MMO’s in general. Now you should know my love for both Star Wars and Bioware so the old republic MMO sounds like just perfection (and anything less will be hailed as a failure). But I also had a strange interest in the upcoming Star Trek MMO. When Perpetual were doing it I wasn’t very interested. The thoughts of being one member of the crew and to go anywhere I’d need to get a whole ship together were terrible to me. When I play WoW I like soloing and meeting up to do quests when it suits me. So the deal with Perpetual fell through and Cryptic Studios took over and did a over hall of the whole thing. Now each player is a ship (a la EVE online) and your stats are the crew you have and so big missions are going to be armadas. I really like this Idea and am excited about this different kind of play. Now my Star Trek fandom is during the TNG andDS9 era, loosing interest during Voyager and didn’t watch any of Enterprise. During the TNG/DS9 ear I was SUPER into it, I had a busted copy of the encyclopedia which I pretty much read cover to cover and played the CCG (1st ed) a lot. So what had me very excited now is Cryptic are filling in the gaps between 2379 (Nemesis and end of Voyager) to 2409 (when the game is set) and what they are covering are characters that I loved like Commander Tomalak and Ro Laren.

What serve do you play on with who? If you’re playing in a reasonably controlled way, I’d be up for resurrecting the odd game night
Thoroughly enjoying WotLK now – great art, good story, some cut cut-sequences. Some of the initial dungeons were a little disappointing but that was because I was an epic geared 70 – a new level 70 would find them a decent challenge.

Hit Post before I emant to. I find the idea behind the Trek MMO an interesting one, even if it automaticaly becomes a little more difficult to have some empathy with your ‘character’ as a result. I will definitely check it out – I’ve pretty much bought all the MMOs in the past couple of years to try them out.

I’m finding WotLK really entertaining but there is now zero challenge in the game. I’ve died zero times to mobs in the world and I tend to fight them 5-6 at a time (Bearform swipe hitting infinite targets FTW). I’ve fallen to my death about 6 times due to forgetting that I couldn’t fly yet.

I agree with you on this point, mobs are really easy, that said epic geared retri pala kicks ass atm
Only died once and that was attacking an epic mobs and I got ganked by a hunter, managed to get him to 10% before i died and then the mob finished him off lol.
The raid content is really simple, no challenge really.

Ahhhh game night, good times. I’m back on Argent Dawn playing a death knight (Qen). Enjoing the WotLK too (even tho I’m only in the 2nd area) the DK starting quests were some of the best I’ve ever seen.

That’s cos druids is imba
Seriously though, there was no challenge from 70-76 for me so far, and even though I respecced to Elemental (Shaman) which I had little/no gear for, I’m rarely in trouble.
I’ve also gone from 70 to 76.5 *way* faster than I ever did in Outland, but I’m hoping the challenge picks up again at 80. In the meantime, I’m really enjoying the quest lines and artwork in Northrend, so it makes up for the fact that it is a bit of a breeze.

Looks interesting though I don’t like the story they have scultped.
The Klingons are in no state to wage a war after teh drubbing they took in the Dom War, etc.
